Jail Escapee Still On the Run 08/25/2014 10:36 PM 08/25/2014 10:42 PM LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Pulaski County Sheriff’s Deputies are searching for an escaped inmate accused of raping a 14-year-old. LITTLE ROCK, AR – The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office says escapee Anael Castro was spotted shortly before 11 a.m. in a wooded area near Interstate Park. K-9 units and a chopper are being used to search the area for the inmate who escaped from custody in downtown Little Rock. Castro had been jailed since May 2013 after being accused of three counts of rape involving a child under the age of 14. Castro is 5’1″ tall and weighs about 118 pounds. The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office reports Castro escaped from a transport vehicle while being taken to the courthouse downtown around 8 a.m. Monday. Copyright 2014 Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc.

Man charged in Texas police chief’s slaying – Yahoo News

Deputies in Van Buren County said a 29-year-old Fennville man was arrested Saturday for drunk driving with his children in the vehicle. The incident happened at about 7:45 p.m. in the area of Phoenix Roadand Blue Star Highway in South Haven. Officials say the man admitted to drinking before driving his four children to the store. The childrens mother, who was also a passenger in the vehicle, currently has custody of them. Child Protective Services are stilllooking into the incident, according to a release. The man will be identified pending arraignment.

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) A sheriff’s spokeswoman says a 24-year-old man has been charged in the shooting death of a small-town Texas police chief. Rosanne Hughes with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday that Joshua Manuel Lopez faces a charge of capital murder of a police officer in the killing of Elmendorf Police Chief Michael Pimentel. Pimentel was shot while making a stop Saturday to serve an active misdemeanor warrant for graffiti. He was struck in the shoulder and abdomen and pronounced dead at a hospital. Hughes says investigators are looking into Lopez’s background. Lopez remained in the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on a $1 million bond Sunday. Information about whether he has an attorney was unavailable. Elmendorf has around 1,500 residents and is about 25 miles southeast of San Antonio. Society & Culture

While at the hospital, officers spoke with two people who identified themselves as Sarah Finn, 23, and Paul Finn, 36. Both suspects indicated that they were in the process of adopting the child through the Fostadopt program, according to police. The child was in their custody at the time because they were her foster parents, said Sgt. Eric Gonzales of the police department. Police said special victims detectives were informed of the situation and have been working the case. Both Sarah and Paul Finn were interviewed and changed their stories several times during that process, police said.

Foster parents arrested for child abuse

He reportedly ordered her to get on her knees at gunpoint, but she and the man who emerged both fled for their car. The homeowner fired at the tire of the vehicle and deputies were able to stop the suspects from fleeing. The woman was also arrested for an outstanding warrant. 18. A deputy was dispatched to a disturbance in progress call in the Inverness Crossing subdivision. The deputy was advised by the complaining witness that his son had struck him in the forehead and the mouth. The suspect was located in his room with a 35-year-old woman and the deputy located a bottle, baggies and a syringe all allegedly filled with methamphetamines. A 16-year-old male was taken into custody for assault after a deputy was dispatched to the Clear Creek Forest subdivision in reference to a child discipline call. The deputy reported that a woman advised her 16-year-old son had been arguing with her when he grabbed her by the arms and pushed her over a safety gate in a doorway. A 15-year-old suspect was charged with deadly conduct, while a 30-year-old man was charged with assault and criminal mischief after a deputy and sergeant responded to an assault call on Aug. 15. The complaining witness advised authorities that he had been invited to the residence on North Hall Drive, but when he squealed his tires in front of the house, the 30-year-old allegedly came out and assaulted him while he was in his vehicle. The 15-year-old is accused of firing a weapon toward the complaining witness while standing about 15 feet behind the vehicle.
